ALASKA CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION
|
On June 4, 1996, Robert Meyer, a Sitka businessman phoned the Alaska Coast Guard to
report an "accident and two fatalities."
Meyer said that his wife and teenage daughter had fallen overboard when their 48-foot
boat caught fire during a fishing trip in Salisbury Sound.
Divers searched the area, but
the two women were not found.

Sergeant Randy McPherron of Alaska State Troopers led an investigation into the
Meyer case which included the FBI and the Sitka Police
Department.
In August, 1996, investigators in Delta
located the burned boat and filmed it from the submersible. They
later retrieved the boat's engines and other evidence that were used to bring criminal charges
against Meyer.
